My name is Jill Powell and I am the Founder and Director of Camp Move IT™. What is Camp Move IT? What does that mean? MOVE your mind MOVE your body, MOVE your soul, MOVE your life!!! The acronym IT represents "Inspiring Transition" through the arts for girls. In helping you understand the heart of this program I think it's important to understand a bit about my life's work and me.

I came to NYC at the age of 16 with a dream in my pocket and a huge desire to make something of myself. When I discovered the arts, I discovered an avenue to help find my way through the complicated teen years and develop skills and tools that would ultimately pave the way to a life of happiness and success. I had an extremely successful career in NYC as an actress, singer and dancer in many Broadway shows, television commercials and a major character on CBS's "As The World Turns" for several years Through my home in the arts and these many experiences I found a place where I could be anything, try anything, think outside of my comfort zone, explore myself as an individual and ultimately learn that the world was filled with numerous options. All I had to do was understand the core of who I was, find things that made my heart sing, commit myself to the work and GO FOR IT!

THAT is my mission for girls.

The constant struggle for young girls to hold ones esteem high, in a society that can be fiercely competitive, the tween and teen years can be daunting. Through my training with Drama and Behavioral Modification Therapist, as well as a life of global and eclectic experiences, I have developed an extremely unique program that empowers girls to explore and become their best and most authentic selves. With that "The Jill Powell Experience" has worked with girls nationwide and has received great acclaim for the impact it's made on the lives of girls and their families, as seen on "The Jane Pauley Show".

And now, I am proud to say the Camp Move IT is entering it's 5th year in celebrating and empowering girls to rock their worlds. We are a totally comprehensive sleep away camp in the catskill mountains that uses Visual Arts, Literary Arts, Music, Performing Arts, Photography and Fashion design, to send girls on a journey of self discovery and creativity. They will collaborate with an incredibly diverse group of girls and find new comforts in what may have been an experience or person, they may have never allowed themselves the experience. Assumptions, judgements are blown out of the water new avenues of growth are found.

Lots of aha moments AND it's a total blast!! Many colleagues from my professional acting and entertainment life will join us to inspire your daughters but also my top notch staff (Inspirers), whom I choose, very carefully, will be here to "Inspire" and care for our campers . We laugh a ton, get wild and crazy, ridiculously creative and all the while discover ourselves, find compassion for each other and just simply grow our lives in ways that one would never expect in a summer camp. It's profound, it's real and it's here!
